Job Description Danfoss, a global market leader in HVAC/R, Water and Motion Controls has an excellent opportunity for an Engineer – Software to join the Danfoss Drives Division Product Development Team located in Research Triangle Park, NC. As a member of cross-functional project teams, the Engineer – VHDL / Firmware is responsible for contributing to the design and development of new products. Additional responsibilities include product maintenance and enhancements, exploring new technologies and processes planned for future products. Job Responsibilities Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following. Prepare designs, specifications, analysis and recommendations for development of new products. Maintain records pertinent to each project in the form of time, project and work tracking reports, documentation, design journals, sketches, drawings, etc Render technical advice and assistance to other product development personnel as to designs, specifications, information sources and testing procedures. Oversee the operations involved in the development and testing of prototype products. Other duties as required. Masters Degree with advanced course work in areas relavent to product development is preferred. Knowledge of digital hardware / firmware product design and development and /or engineering research. Experience working with VHDL and C/C++ programming. Knowledge of Python scripting. Ability to read, write and verbally communicate in English along with the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings Ability to understand and adhere to a defined software process. Ability to contribute to tasks required to complete a software project, estimate effort required for those tasks, and hold a committed schedule. Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables. Preferred Skills Able to contribute as a member of an organized project team of engineers. Experience and/or knowledge of Embedded Software Design. Experience and/or knowledge of real-time software design, software –hardware interaction with real time operating systems, multithreading, and event driven architectures. Experience working with Python scripting. Variable frequency drive experience Knowledge of Control System Engineering and Motor Control. Knowledge of Digital Signal Processing (DSP) design.
