Job Description
To work as part of the Fleet Team in managing the repair and maintenance of a fleet of HGV Vacuum Tankers as well as managing and ensuring compliance to our operator’s licence. With extensive experience of HGV fleets you will play a key role in the monitoring of costs and reducing vehicle downtime from our internal workshop and network of third-party garages across the UK. This is a predominantly office based role but one day a week will be from home if you wish, you will be required to travel around the country when needed with frequent visits to our main repair / MOT garages as well as gate checks.
Responsibilities:
· Manage Operators Licence as the designated Transport Manager in line with the roles outlined by the Office of the Traffic Commissioner. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/whats-involved-in-being-a-road-transport-manager/being-a-road-transport-manager-your-responsibilities
· To ensure the tankers are maintained in line with company policy and legislation.
· Manage and monitor service the repair costs with garages.
· Ensure all service documentation is completed in an accurate and timely manner.
· Interpret service sheets and reports to identify existing and potential vehicle faults.
· To highlight any tankers which do not comply with company specifications and/or current legislation.
· Visit vehicles for audit, inspection and to confirm works required by garages.
· Assist drivers in diagnosing and solving minor technical issues.
· Assist in the investigation of accidents, incidents and near misses from a technical perspective.
· Maintain our FORS status and assist in working toward Earned Recognition.
· Manage vehicle CCTV system.
Desireable
· Irtec Approved Inspection Technician.
· Experience with Jetting Equipment and Vacuum Tankers.
· Knowledge of DAF’s.
About The Role
Experience:
· Have experience with HGV repairs and maintenance.
· Experience in invoicing and costings for parts and labour.
· Experience of gully suckers, vacuum tanks and recyclers would be beneficial but not essential.
· High level of enthusiasm and good communication skills.
· Basic knowledge of Microsoft package – Word, Excel and Outlook.
· Good organisational skills and ability to be able to prioritise workloads to meet deadlines.
· Ability to work autonomously.
· Ability to work well in a team.
Qualifications:
· Transport Manager CPC.
· Full UK Driving license – Required.
· HGV Licence – Preferable.
· Diploma in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Competence – Preferable.
