The Role
The role of the Electrical Design Manager is primarily responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of electrical design activities within the organisation, ensuring adherence to standards, safety protocols, and project requirements. You will lead a team of professionals to deliver high-quality electrical designs for various projects, particularly in the renewable energy sector. Additionally, you will provide technical expertise, guidance, and support to ensure the successful execution of projects.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supervise and coordinate electrical design activities, ensuring alignment with project goals and contractual obligations.
* Supervisory experience in electrical works associated with mini hydro, solar, and other renewable generation types.
* Oversee the production of detailed design methodologies, guidelines, and documentation, including design reviews.
* Monitor and report on the progress of electrical design tasks, including resource allocation and document control.
* Strong comprehension of motor control schematics, generator connection, and protection schematics.
* Skilled in conducting fault-finding with various electrical systems in power generation.
* Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical designs.
* Provide technical support to project groups, procurement, subcontracting, and construction activities.
* Complete electrical and control works associated with construction of MCC’s, power switchboards and control cabinets.
* Evaluate design changes and ensure proper implementation within the original scope of work.
* Ensure compliance with applicable electrical standards and safety guidelines.
* Lead from the front, providing support and guidance to the team when necessary.
Additional Responsibilities
* Commitment to cleanliness and safety in the workplace, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements.
* Provide a strong customer service and can relate with and work with several people irrespective of their background.
* Travel to site, either intrastate, interstate, or international if required.
* Ensure that assigned equipment and tooling is maintained and in accordance with legislative requirements and in a safe, effective, and efficient state to be available for the task that they are intended.
* Industrial Electrician or Certificate III in Electrotechnology, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience or a degree qualification in Electrical Engineering from a recognised University.
* Demonstrate knowledge and experience in Automation (SCADA and PLC Controls), VSD’s, and Motor/Pump Control.
* Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
* Hold an unrestricted and current driver’s licence.
* Ability to travel intrastate, interstate, or internationally if required.
* Experience working with SCADA and PLC control systems.
* Previous experience in the design, operation, and maintenance of hydro, solar or similar assets.
* Experience in workflow Max or other relevant IT tools.

* High Risk Work Licence with Forklift Truck (LF), Elevated Work Platforms (WP)
* First Aid & CPR
* Low Voltage Rescue
