Emergency Department Junior Sister/Charge Nurse (Band 6)
Are you a passionate and ambitious Emergency Nurse looking for an exciting new challenge? Do you thrive in fast-paced environments where every day brings new opportunities to make a real difference? If so, we want YOU to join our Emergency Department at Torbay Hospital.
You may be an experienced ED nurse looking for a new challenge or an established ED leader looking for some fresh thinking. Whatever your reasons, we would love to hear from you.
This is more than just a job; it is a chance to be part of a high-energy, life-saving team dedicated to providing the best possible care for adults and children in critical situations. You will gain specialist skills, work with a supportive and inspiring team, and have access to fantastic professional development opportunities!
We are seeking forward-thinking ED nurses who are looking to share a wealth of experience and who are able to lead a team of 28 nurses and AHP's on a shift-by-shift basis.
You will feel comfortable leading the care delivery for the sickest of patients in the resuscitation room or coordinating patient flow through the department, offering mentoring and support to your colleagues.
Responsibilities
* To have responsibility for coordinating the shift in the ‘Silver’ nursing role, including managing the flow of patients through the department and acting as an expert resource for the nursing team.
* Work closely with the Clinical Band 7 on duty in supporting the team in the delivery of safe, evidence-based, and effective care.
* Liaise regularly throughout the shift with the ‘Silver’ Doctor and ambulance personnel to discuss all patients and ensure all clinical plans are appropriate and in place.
* Adopt a highly visible, accessible approach for patients, their carers, and relatives, and all staff within the MDT alike. Lead by example and help to empower staff in their personal and professional development.
* Work closely with the medical team and other agencies, including SWASFT, to ensure patient safety and prompt and appropriate care is given.
* Be innovative with ways of working, striving to offer ideas that will develop the service and fit the demands made upon the department, and be encouraged and supported to challenge working practices to become as efficient as possible.
* Undertake supervision, mentorship, and, where appropriate, teach registered and non-registered nursing staff.
Why Work With Us
* Cutting-edge training & career development with specialist paediatric emergency courses, supported by our Adult and Paediatric Practice Education team.
* A team that feels like family - Work alongside experienced and passionate professionals who will support, challenge, and inspire you every day.
* Variety & excitement - No two days are ever the same in our fast-moving Emergency Department!
* A welcoming environment - From your very first day, you will be given a tailored induction and full support to help you settle in and succeed.
