The purpose of this role is to complete member options calculations utilising varying inputs required. In addition, the role is key to support the growth and development of the DB area and our member experience activities.
In this Role you will:
* Provide calculation support for standard and non-standard member option calculations.
* Analyse and upload new scheme benefit data to enable automated tools to run to maximise outputs and remove manual calculations.
* Assist Head of True-up and DB Actuary in accurate and timely delivery of data true-ups.
* Prepare/check internal sign-off documentation for each quotation as required following the agreed sign-off process.
* Carry out all necessary BAU work for in-force business which includes scheme valuations when required.
* Develop a deep knowledge of all systems and tools used by the True-up team.
* Proactively drive projects forward to ensure they are progressed in line with expected timescales.
* Actively assist in the development of junior DB team members through training and knowledge sharing.
Qualifications:
* Obtained or working towards the FIA qualification and making good progress with the actuarial exams; or someone who has ceased working towards an actuarial qualification.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Strong IT skills, particularly Excel.
* Good interpersonal and team working skills.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial concepts in a clear and concise manner.
* Ability to work without close supervision.
* Sound knowledge of technical actuarial concepts, particularly principles underlying bulk annuity pricing.
* Good knowledge and awareness of the DB buy-in/buy-out market, life insurance, and relevant regulation.
* Experience of working within a pensions or investment consultancy, life insurer, or reinsurer.
