Science Graduate Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Role in Stockport
Teaching Personnel is working with an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Stockport to recruit a Science Graduate Teaching Assistant for a full-time position starting ASAP and continuing until the end of the academic year. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a science graduate looking to gain invaluable classroom experience, with the potential for a permanent position based on performance. The pay for this role is £419.25 - £500 per week.
Role Overview
This position is ideal for a recent Science graduate who is considering a career in education, whether as a future teacher, researcher, or educational support specialist. The role involves working closely with science teachers, supporting students in their understanding of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, and providing tailored academic assistance to ensure progress in the subject.
Key Responsibilities
* Supporting Learning: Assist students in lessons by explaining scientific concepts, helping them with practical experiments, and reinforcing key learning objectives.
* Small Group & One-to-One Support: Work with students who require additional help, providing targeted interventions to strengthen their subject knowledge.
* Assisting with Practical Lessons: Support science teachers in setting up and supervising laboratory experiments, ensuring health and safety regulations are followed.
* Encouraging Engagement: Foster a positive attitude towards science, helping students develop confidence in their abilities and encouraging curiosity in STEM subjects.
* Classroom Management: Support teachers in maintaining a focused and structured learning environment.
* Progress Monitoring: Track student progress, providing feedback to teachers and helping to adapt teaching strategies where necessary.
* Providing Exam Support: Assist students with revision techniques and subject-specific exam preparation in the lead-up to assessments.
What We Are Looking For
* A Degree in a Science Subject (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field).
* A Passion for Education and Science: A strong desire to help students develop their understanding of scientific principles.
* Strong Communication Skills: The ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and accessible way.
* Adaptability and Initiative: The ability to work flexibly within the classroom and respond to students’ needs.
* Experience Working with Young People (Desirable): Any experience in tutoring, mentoring, or working with students in an educational setting is beneficial.
