Job Title: Data Architect - Cloud
Location: Frimley, Preston or Warton, Portsmouth, Glascoed. Candidates can be based anywhere in the UK. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements - please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.
Salary: £72,000 + depending on experience
What you'll be doing:
* Responsible for designing and analysing data & analytics (D&A) cloud-based architecture that ensures efficient data management.
* Supports the cloud data strategy, considering people, product, partners, and processes, collaborating with senior stakeholders across the business to understand the evolving data needs of the organisation.
* Liaises with the product suppliers, COTS component vendors and sub-contract development teams ensuring alignment to the Data Technology roadmap.
* Works jointly across enterprise architecture to inform, develop and design cloud data solutions that supports business strategy, requirements, and changes in capabilities.
* Ensure strategy architectures are in alignment with data architecture, EA principles and target state.
* Identifies conflicts and dependencies between action and raising these with the relevant projects and stakeholders.
* Contributes and supports appropriate governance for all key aspects of delivery and platforms; champions and encourages adherence to process.
* Actively participates across the enterprise, sharing and re-applying skills and knowledge and bringing in best practice.
* Keep up to date with Microsoft Azure / AWS / GCP technologies and drive best practice and standard.
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
* Proven knowledge and experience of working within architecture frameworks e.g. TOGAF.
* Technical knowledge of a range of cloud data technologies across Azure, AWS, GCP.
* Understanding of the service and software development lifecycles (including methodologies e.g. Agile) and associated reviews, policies, standards, and governance processes.
* Self-starter with great stakeholder engagement skills and able to explain complex capabilities and their value to other technical professionals.
Desirable:
* Business and system requirements gathering / analysis.

The Group IM&T team:
The role sits within the Group IM&T team within Head Office. The responsibility of this team is to enable the Company to become more effective and efficient through exploitation of data capabilities. The team defines the policies and standards for IM&T that are adopted across BAE Systems and also provides assurance of these in order to meet our contractual and governmental obligations. Our vacancy is an exciting opportunity to work within the Enterprise Data Architecture team to influence and shape the cloud data architecture for a rapidly growing area in BAE Systems.
