Responsibilities: As a Band 6 Locum Physiotherapist you will be responsible for undertaking comprehensive assessments of a wide range of patients, including those with diverse or complex neurological conditions. Using advanced manual assessment techniques and clinical reasoning skills, you will determine impairments and disabilities to formulate a diagnosis, hypothesis, and prognosis. You will formulate, plan, and deliver specialized, patient-centered physiotherapy treatment programs based on evidence-based practice and treatment options. This includes using clinical assessment, outcome measures, therapeutic manual physiotherapy techniques, patient education, and vestibular exercise classes. You will liaise with families, carers, and significant others to ensure patients’ needs are met to a high standard. Additionally, you will constantly evaluate and monitor patients’ needs, adjusting physiotherapy practice as necessary, including for rapidly deteriorating and unstable patients. You will collaborate with medical colleagues, other healthcare professionals, and external services to achieve coordinated care, representing physiotherapy issues and negotiating with multidisciplinary team members in managing complex cases. You will also contribute to the discharge planning process, liaising with community/outpatient services and voluntary organizations as appropriate. Using highly developed physical skills, you will support patients with neurological impairments and balance problems during walking and transfers. Qualifications and Experiences: Degree in Physiotherapy and registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Proven experience in neurological physiotherapy, preferably in a rehabilitation setting. Strong clinical skills in assessment, treatment planning, and intervention for neurological conditions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
