Production Controller/Manager, West Bromwich, £35-45k
The company manufactures and produces steel manufactured products and have a long-serving employee due to retirement.
You will oversee and manage all aspects of production scheduling, including material planning, fabrication, welding, and coating processes. This role requires close collaboration with the General Manager, Foreman, and Coating Plant Supervisor to ensure efficient workflow and timely delivery of products.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and manage production schedules to meet customer demands and optimize resource utilization.
2. Plan and coordinate material requirements to ensure timely availability for production.
3. Oversee fabrication and welding activities, ensuring adherence to quality standards and project timelines.
4. Provide clear instructions and guidance to the Foreman and Coating Plant Supervisor regarding production priorities and schedules.
5. Monitor production processes, identifying potential bottlenecks and implementing corrective actions as needed.
6. Collaborate with the quality assurance team to maintain high standards of product quality.
7. Maintain accurate records of production activities, inventory levels, and material usage.
8. Continuously assess and improve production processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
Qualifications And Experience:
1. Proven experience in a manufacturing environment, with a focus on production planning and control.
2. Previous role served as a shop floor Manager or similar.
3. Proven experience in material planning, fabrication, and welding processes.
4. Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
5. Excellent communication and leadership abilities, with experience in supervising and guiding production teams.
6. Proficiency in using production planning software and tools.
7. Problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing production challenges.
8. Knowledge of health and safety regulations within a manufacturing setting.
There will be a transition period where old and new will work together to learn the processes. They need the requirements on the specification met; this is not a learning role as they don’t have the time to mentor this role. They want someone with the right skills, experience, and most importantly the right character and attitude.
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 per year.
Holiday: 25 days + bank holidays. Sick pay covered.
