SEND teacher of PSHE (Brighton) Contract: Full time, permenant, 40 hours per week. Monday - Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm Salary: £36,000 Protocol is working with a college based in Brighton in their search for a SEND teacher of PSHE. Key Responsibilities: Leadership and Management: Lead the development and implementation of the PSHE curriculum, including RSE, in line with national guidelines and college policies. Provide line management and support to the PSHE subject-specific Learning Support Worker (LSW). Curriculum Development: Ensure the curriculum is inclusive and promotes the personal, social, health, and economic well-being of all learners. Stay updated with current educational trends in PSHE education and lead staff workshops on these topics. Contribute to the self-evaluation processes to assess PSHE provision and its impact on learner progress. Teaching and Learning: Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons, resources, and schemes of work tailored to learners’ needs. Assess, record, and report on student development, progress, and attainment. Share best practices to support the embedding of British Fundamental Values across the curriculum. Employ innovative teaching strategies for learners with Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) and complex needs. Collaborate with transdisciplinary teams, parents, and carers to ensure a holistic approach to student learning. Support the development of students' independence and employability skills. Maintain a calm and productive learning environment aligned with Autism Accreditation standards. Tutor Group Management: Oversee educational programmes for assigned tutor groups in cooperation with the Deputy Head Teacher. Support learners during their transition and induction into the college. Ensure accurate evidence for Annual Review reports and contribute to review meetings. Lead tutor group meetings and coordinate professional communication with parents and carers. Additional Duties: Engage in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Uphold college policies on health, safety, and well-being, including diversity, equality, and inclusion. Maintain confidentiality in line with data protection principles. Demonstrate a commitment to personal development and ongoing professional training. Person Specification: Essential Qualifications and Experience: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS, Cert. Ed., PGCE, or equivalent. Experience in planning, delivering, and assessing learning, particularly for learners with SEND. Knowledge of SEND legislation and the SEND Code of Practice. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with students, colleagues, and stakeholders. Experience working with learners who have complex needs, including ASC. Ability to teach PSHE across both academic and vocational contexts. Commitment to continuous professional development in SEND education.
