This is an exciting opportunity to shape and lead a comprehensive attendance strategy that will have a significant impact on student engagement and achievement. Key responsibilities : Evaluate and Develop Strategy: Assess the current attendance strategy and create a clear, robust plan to improve attendance across secondary schools within the Trust. Leadership and Implementation: Lead by example, modelling best practices and providing coaching and mentoring to staff to ensure effective implementation of the attendance strategy. Monitor and Report: Regularly monitor and evaluate the strategy's impact across each school, reporting progress to key stakeholders and making adjustments as needed. Accountability: Be accountable to the CEO and Trust Board for the success of the attendance strategy. Stakeholder Collaboration: Establish strong relationships with school staff, families, pupils and external partners to promote and support attendance initiatives. Individual Attendance Plans: Develop and monitor tailored attendance improvement plans for students, ensuring timely intervention and support. Home Visits & Legal Action: Undertake home visits when necessary and manage the legal enforcement of penalty notices to ensure attendance compliance. Data-Driven Decisions: Use data to inform strategy and decision-making, ensuring a clear understanding of trends and areas for improvement. Legal & Best Practice: Ensure schools understand and adhere to attendance laws and best practices, and use all available methods, including legal action, to improve attendance. Essential Requirements : Proven experience in managing and improving school attendance strategies Strong understanding of legal requirements and best practices related to school attendance Excellent leadership, coaching and mentoring skills Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders A data-driven approach to decision-making and performance management A proactive and solution-focused mindset. Each school within the Archdiocese will be given the opportunity to join one of 12 locally based Catholic MATs. We are the first of these MATs and are therefore acting as a pathfinder for the CMATs that will follow. At present there are three secondary schools within the CMAT; St Edmund Arrowsmith Catholic Academy in Whiston, Sacred Heart Catholic Academy in Crosby and The Salesian Academy of St John Bosco in Bootle. We also have four primary schools; St Edmund's and St Thomas' Catholic Primary School in Waterloo, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Primary School in Southport, Our Lady of Walsingham Catholic Primary School in Bootle and St Mary's Catholic Primary School in Crosby. The Pope Francis Catholic MAT will serve the Sefton area and may ultimately include up to 29 Catholic schools, both primary and secondary.
