Location - Cheltenham (onsite) Salary - £30,000 - £32,000 p.a. base salary (DOE) Permanent Vacancy A fantastic opportunity for a Senior IT Engineer has arisen to join a recently formed Secondary School near central Cheltenham. This position will work on behalf of a leading IT Services business, providing sole onsite support across infrastructure and end-user environments. You will provide comprehensive IT support to all stakeholders, including teaching and support staff, students, visitors, and guests. The role will be to ensure the smooth operation of the school's ICT systems, supporting a range of state-of-the-art facilities. There will be a fantastic learning and progression opportunity within the role, moving towards a managerial position as the school grows. Support will also be provided by the team of remote-managed services engineers locally from the IT provider's HQ in Cheltenham. Key Responsibilities within the position will include; Support and maintain the school's IT network, including infrastructure, workstations, peripherals, and software. Deploy, configure, and manage end-user hardware such as desktops, laptops, tablets, printers, Classroom AV equipment, and other peripherals. Maintain Audio/Visual equipment, including audio recording devices, projectors, interactive touchscreens, and more. Provide day-to-day technical support, diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues promptly. Manage user accounts and permissions for systems such as Office 365, SharePoint, and other school systems. Implement and maintain security measures, including antivirus and firewall protections, to safeguard the school's IT environment. Monitor and manage internet filtering and monitoring systems to ensure safe and appropriate use of IT resources. Report and manage any security incidents in compliance with school policies and regulations, including GDPR. Maintain comprehensive documentation of IT systems, processes, and procedures. Keep the IT hardware and software inventory up to date and assist with audits as required. Experience and attributes required; Ideally, have experience working within IT support for an educational provider Demonstrated experience in supporting onsite IT infrastructure, with a focus on end-user devices and support Ability to communicate effectively with various audiences, including senior leadership, teachers, support staff, and students. Capable of managing multiple work streams and projects simultaneously, demonstrating strong time management and organisational skills. Technology exposure across the following; Windows 10, 11 Microsoft Office 365 and Desktop Office Suite Microsoft Entra (formerly Azure Active Directory) Azure Services (Basic understanding required) Intune for Mobile Device Management Networking (DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, VLAN, Switching, Wireless, WAN) Firewall Management Audio & Visual Equipment Anti-Virus Technologies Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm. Location: Onsite 5 days pew week in Cheltenham Package: A base salary of up to £32,000 per annum. 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, which increases with length of service
