The childrens MRI service is based at Leeds General Infirmary (LGI). LGI is a major trauma center and the home of the Leeds Childrens Hospital. Please note that although the trust has plans to build a dedicated Childrens hospital with its own imaging facilities, the current LGI MRI department scans both adults and children so some adult imaging will be required of the post-holder as part of the on-call service. The role of Lead Radiographer for paediatric MRI services is a diverse one. The successful candidate will work closely with radiologists and other senior Radiographers to develop the childrens MRI service. There will be involvement in the development of the future Leeds Childrens Hospital project (Building the Leeds Way) from a Radiology perspective, as well as supporting management in day to day service delivery. The successful candidate must have experience of MRI and childrens imaging. Leeds MRI has undertaken a major service expansion, increasing the number of MRI scanners across the city. Main duties of the job The role of Lead Radiographer for paediatric MRI services is a diverse one. The successful candidate will work closely with radiologists and the other senior Radiographers to develop the childrens MRI service. The successful candidate will support the MRI service in providing good quality diagnostic images for our patients whilst also providing exemplary patient care. The key duties will be: - Perform diagnostic MRI scans. - Maintain high quality patient records - Provide patient care - Review patient MRI safety issues and make decisions on MRI safety including scanning of active implants. - Cannulate patients - Administer a range of drugs. - Perform scans for research purposes. - Once competent, train other staff and students. - Support the weekend out-patient list service - Support the overnight, weekend and bank holiday on-call rota.
