This post is for someone with significant experience of involvement and co-production, a good understanding of the needs of Older People, and with post graduate qualification experience relevant to Older People's Mental health services (OPMH).
The job will involve working across the OPMH Teams in the community directorate across the three boroughs of Bromley, Bexley and Greenwich which are served by the Oxleas NHS Trust, and work with voluntary and community sector organisations.
The job will involve working with older people, their friends, families and carers, clinicians, managers, and allied professionals. The post-holder will be involved in recruiting, engaging and training older people to develop participation activities as well as linking with clinicians, managers and external partner organisations and report to senior level leadership groups.
They will be responsible for line managing a Band 4 role that focuses on Service User involvement in OPMH.
Main duties of the job
* To develop a Participation Strategy for OPMH services in Oxleas to enable current and past service users and their families to help shape services for their continuing improvement, to meet the mental health needs of older people in the boroughs of Bromley, Bexley and Greenwich.
* To continue to oversee or follow the above strategies to help services deliver strategic goals, promote and encourage the participation of all older people and their carers.
* To provide meaningful participation opportunities for older people such as involvement and co-production, allowing them to develop key skills and collaborate as active partners.
* With support from Involve, to build on the existing participation activities across the Trust and within the 3 boroughs.
* To develop a facilitative process that encourages and supports older people's participation in OPMH strategy.
* To liaise with and support current borough participation groups.
* To lead on the recruitment of older people and carers for participation activities.
* To contribute to the evaluation, monitoring, development, and implementation of participation activities.
* To feed back to engagement stakeholders on how older peoples' input has contributed to the delivery of and improvement of OPMH service priorities.
* To work autonomously within the overall framework of the Involve, Community Mental Health Directorate and the Trust's policies and procedures.

Job responsibilities
* Linking with other Agencies external to Oxleas.

Person Specification
Education
* Educated to Masters Level Degree or equivalent experience.
* Clinically qualified e.g. Nurse, Social worker, Psychological Therapist or Allied Health professional.
Experience
* Experience of developing, writing, consulting on or assisting in developing high level policies and strategies.
* Experience of working and influencing for positive change in a large and complex organisation.
* Clinical and/or managerial experience which demonstrates the ability to initiate, develop and implement significant programmes of work.
* Lived, direct or indirect, experience of mental or physical health problems.
Skills/knowledge
* Knowledge and understanding of NHS structures and of the key national and local policy drivers and initiatives.
* Experience of staff management and managing change across services.
* Working knowledge of research methodology.
