An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Intermediate care Bedded unit therapy team. You will be supporting the MDT to provide assessment and interventions to people requiring additional rehabilitation on discharge from hospital.
We are looking for a Band 6 Occupational Therapists to join our service. You should have significant post registration experience within the NHS including working in a community and/or rehabilitation setting, covering a wide variety of clinical areas. You will be an excellent team player and also possess excellent communication skills and must be able to work on your own initiative to organise and prioritise your own caseload and balance this with the demands of this diverse and varied role. You will be expected to supervise junior staff and support the band 7 team leads in delivering an effective and efficient service.
The Service operates over 7 days (weekends occurring 1:4).
Main duties of the job
To assess and treat adults who are experiencing reduced physical ability and require Rehabilitation following a stay in hospital. The post holder will work as a member of the Multi-disciplinary Team within the unit and will be responsible for providing an Occupational Therapy service to people within the bedded unit. Their day-to-day workload will include:
1. Be experienced and skilled in the holistic assessment of patient's needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of individual treatment programmes.
2. Support senior members of the team in delivering evidence-based patient care.
3. Carry a caseload of patients that present with Acute or Chronic conditions.
4. Work as an autonomous practitioner being professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of your work, managing own caseload and maintaining patient and own records.
5. Work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, coordinating discharge and taking an active role in case conferences.
6. Provide professional guidance and support for band 5 staff, Technicians / Therapy Assistants and students.
7. Participate in appropriate MDT meetings, IST and training.
8. Assess, plan, prioritise and make recommendations with regards to equipment, adaptations etc., as appropriate to the client group. Assess for and advise on patient's care needs and evaluate this.
