NATS is the UK's leading air navigation service provider, handling over 2 million flights each year. It provides air traffic control services from two control centres supporting airports all around the UK, as well as a wide range of commercial solutions to over 30 countries internationally. As an integral part of NATS, the Aeronautical Information Management (AIM) function is contracted to deliver the UK Aeronautical Information Service in accordance with ICAO. The purpose of the role is to receive and issue/disseminate aeronautical information via NOTAM. This information is used to alert users of future and immediate hazards that have the potential to affect flight safety, and can contain information concerning the establishment, condition or change in any aeronautical facility, service, procedure, or hazard. The UK International NOTAM Office (NOF) operates a H24 service 365 days of the year. The role is also to act as the AIS enquiry centre, particularly outside of office hours. What you'll do: Validate and verify the aeronautical information in accordance with the quality requirements of applicable international, regional and national standards and policies Analyse the NOTAM content to ensure all safety related hazards are emphasised for correct interpretation Coordinate with data sources quickly and efficiently to clarify any ambiguity within NOTAM content. Prepare NOTAM content in accordance with international and regional regulations and requirements and ensure appropriate distribution Make available pre-flight and post-flight information including Pre-flight Information Bulletin (PIB) important to the safe conduct of flight, and assist stakeholders as required Operate specialist software and systems to process and disseminate aeronautical information to meet regulatory requirements of format and timeliness Apply fault reporting processes to ensure corrective and preventive action is taken Support business requirements through execution of tasks relating to aeronautical information or products, as directed by AIM management Act as a mentor and deliver training as required in all aspects of the NOTAM process and procedures Who you'll be: Relevant experience in an aviation environment Demonstrable safety related aeronautical data handling experience Demonstrable experience or understanding of common formats used for the exchange of Digital Aeronautical Information is desirable Experience in the use of software or tools relevant to the receipt, management, production and distribution of aeronautical information and data is desirable Significant knowledge of international aviation standards including International Civil Aviation Organisation Standards Ability to swiftly analyse and interpret aeronautical information and data to understand importance and context Ability to retain and recall information in a timely manner Ability to work within a small team of highly qualified experienced staff Effective time management and communication skills High level of accuracy and attention to detail Decision making skills, to aid and assist information sponsors in the means and methods for promulgation of aeronautical information and PIB production Following a period of On the Job Training the role holder will be required to operate as part of the H24 AIS Service provision, consequentially this position will attract full UHP. The UK NOTAM Office currently support Agile Working. This may be subject to change for the future.
