We are currently seeking a detailed orientated and collaborative Finance Analyst to join our highly skilled team reporting into the FP&A Business Partner.
The Role:
As our newly appointed Finance Analyst you will have responsibility for all aspects of management accounting and financial control for Clinigen's Lifecycle Services ('CLS') and Clinical Trial Services ('CTS') business units. The principal function of the role will be to oversee the P&L, balance sheet and working capital positions of the business units, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of management information to stakeholders in line with the Group's reporting timetable and implementing and maintaining strong financial control processes.
You will play a pivotal role and work closely with the CLS & CTS FP&A Business Partner and the operations teams providing them with data and reporting to enable quick and accurate decision making as well as appropriately challenging the numbers. You will have a proactive and driven mindset with the ability to independently solve problems as well as the ability to communicate well with the business and the wider finance community.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Accounting, Reporting and Control
1. Responsibility for management accounting and financial control across Clinigen's Lifecycle Services ('CLS') and Clinical Trial Services ('CTS') business units.
2. Review the monthly financial results of the CLS & CTS business units and post required journals including accruals, prepayments, reclassifications etc. to ensure the results are accurate and in accordance with IFRS and the Group accounting manual.
3. Prepare reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts with appropriate support and evidence to enable efficient review and audit of the balance sheet.
4. Prepare flash reporting of financial results with appropriate commentary and complete month end close process for the CLS & CTS business units in accordance with the Group financial calendar.
5. Work closely with the CLS & CTS FP&A Business Partner to highlight key or unusual transactions, provide commentary on variances to budget/forecast and provide excellent customer service to stakeholders in the business.
6. Help with the development and implementation of new financial accounting and review processes around costing and billing through time recording for the Lifecycle Services business.
7. Work with FP&A Business Partner to develop and implement an efficient and transparent mechanism to cross-charge internal divisions for work performed by the CLS BU.
8. Identify opportunities for process improvement or efficiencies and lead on designing, implementing and communicating these changes and measuring their success.
9. Work with the transactional finance team and warehouse team to ensure accurate and timely invoicing and resolve any problems with supplier invoice processing or stock management.
10. Work with stakeholders in the business units to ensure financial processes are followed correctly and help to resolve any issues or obstacles they face in following these processes, supporting as appropriate with raising of purchase orders and sales orders and stock adjustments.
11. Prepare ad-hoc analysis of performance as and when required by the FP&A Business Partner.
Cash-flow/Treasury/Working Capital
1. Support the FP&A Business Partner on producing regular working capital and cash flow forecasting including foreign currency requirements to enable appropriate cash management.
2. Work with the transactional finance team to monitor the business units' working capital positions and ensure strong working capital management and control.
3. Maintain compliance with the Group Treasury policy.
Audit/Compliance
1. Support year end statutory accounts preparation and audit, to ensure audit closure is achieved in line with deadlines.
2. Maintain organised support and evidence for transactions and balances during the year to ensure audit questions can be answered efficiently and completely.
Requirements
1. Part qualified/qualifying chartered accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
2. Proven management reporting/financial accounting skills
3. Ability to use ERP accounting systems (experience of Oracle eBS or similar is desirable)
4. Advanced MS package skills (Excel and PowerPoint)
5. Strong communication skills and demonstrative experience in providing excellent customer service
6. Strong grasp of financial accounting rules and standards and ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders
7. Ability to define and improve processes
8. Previous experience in a similar position preferable
9. Pharma knowledge is desirable but not essential
