We are recruiting a full-time Nursery Assistant for a lovely Nursery in Leeds. There could be the option of securing a permanent contract for the right person.
This role involves working within the Nursery to support the new cohort of children starting in November. As a Nursery Assistant, your responsibilities will include general classroom assistant duties, working 1:1 with children with suspected special educational needs, and conducting small group work.
Qualifications are not essential; however, experience with Early Years children in a Nursery or educational setting is a must. Level 3 and Level 2 qualifications are advantageous.
As a Nursery Assistant, you will be required to have knowledge and experience with the following:
1. Phonics
2. Experience with children with additional needs such as speech and language difficulties, autism, and non-verbal communication
3. Experience in a UK nursery or school-based setting
4. Educational references dated within the last 2 years

Nursery Assistant Role & Responsibilities:
1. Use specialist skills, training, and experience to support pupils and enhance their learning and progress.
2. Undertake programs linked to local and national learning strategies, e.g., Literacy, numeracy, EYFS/KS1, recording achievement and progress, and providing feedback to the teacher.
3. Prepare, maintain, and use equipment/resources required to meet lesson plans/relevant learning activities and assist pupils in their use.
4. Work with small groups of children and take responsibility for their learning.
Non-negotiables:
1. Previous experience of working with children aged 0-11 in a voluntary or paid capacity.
2. Knowledge of the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage and the National Curriculum.
3. Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) Level 1 upwards.
4. Good numeracy and literacy skills.
