Trainee Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner - Annex 21
Please note, this is a development role supported by Annex 21. On commencement of your development role, you will be paid 75% of the top of the band 8a pay scale, and on successful completion after 12 months, you will continue on the bottom of the band 8a banding.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our ANNP team at our level 2 Local Neonatal Unit. We are looking for enthusiastic and flexible ANNPs to join our expanding team. We form an active part of West Midlands Neonatal Operational Delivery Network.
The NNU has 22 flexibeds across Neonatal Unit and Transitional care. Our maternity department (which has a 'Good' CQC rating) has over 4000 deliveries yearly. Our NNU (also rated 'Good' in CQC rating) has over 600 admissions per year across NNU and TC.
Working alongside the medical team on the tier 1 rota, the ANNPs are integral to delivering high quality neonatal care to sick and preterm babies. Time is split to allow support of the 4 pillars of advanced practice (clinical, management & leadership, education and research) and drive service development.
The successful candidate must be flexible to our service needs and qualified to masters (MSc) Level. You must also be qualified as a non-medical prescriber and be registered with the NMC. You will need to have excellent communication skills and the ability to work autonomously using initiative and objectivity at all times.
Main duties of the job
The Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (ANNP) role encompasses the Four Pillars of Advanced Practice - Clinical Practice, Facilitating Learning, Leadership and Evidence, Research and Development. The ANNP will deliver and strive to improve care on the neonatal unit and obstetric areas through advanced clinical skills, leadership, education and research activities.

Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
* RN/RM/RSCN
* ENB405/904 or equivalent
* Full NMC registration
* 2:2 degree in a subject from a clinical or science background
Knowledge and training
* Neonatal nursing experience at Band 6 or above.
* Three years' post neonatal pathway experience in a level 2/3 unit that regularly undertakes Intensive Care.
* Be prepared to participate in ANNP/ACP full-time training program, at MSc level at Southampton University.
* Completion of the Advanced Non-medical prescribing course.
* Completion of a research module (Desirable).
* Completion of Examination of the Newborn course.
Experience
* Experience of managing a shift on a regular basis (Essential).
* Initiation of emergency care both on Delivery Suite and Neonatal Unit (Essential).
* Experience of supporting/developing staff/clinical supervision.
* Skilled practitioner who can act as a role model.
* Evidence of Professional development.
* Able to fulfill the requirements of the role.

£53,755 to £60,504 a year, 75% of top of band 8a - bottom of band 8a upon completion.
