Job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced administrator to join us in East Cornwall, whose primary function will be to support the Launceston and Tamar Valley Community Nursing Team. This role will be supporting the team based in Launceston Hospital and Callington Health Centre. On occasion, you will be expected to support the wider North and East Integrated Care Area. The working pattern will include some weekend working.
The role will include the management of referrals from entry into the team through to discharge and interacting with patients, carers, and other health and social care professionals. Also, inputting to a range of patient and staff electronic systems, monitoring of staff Lone Working, and document management.
Support to the team will include helping staff manage appointments, inputting onto rosters, monitoring and maintaining registers and databases, and ordering stock and equipment. There is an element of patient-facing contact mainly via the telephone, but on occasions, patients may report to reception and need to be seen. The ability to travel independently between offices and cover the service over 7 days on a rota system is required.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be articulate and have a keen eye for detail. Ability to maintain patient and staff confidentiality is an essential aspect of this role.
1. Managing referrals to the team via electronic systems and clinical record-keeping systems
2. Arranging meetings, preparing agenda, note-taking, and distributing papers
3. Support clinical staff at weekends by liaising with patients, gathering information for clinical staff from MDT and using electronic systems to ensure safe and effective communication
4. Assist with HR, Workforce, and recruitment paperwork
5. Act as first point of contact for telephone and face-to-face enquiries by patients, their relatives and carers, health and social care professionals, referrers, and the general public
6. Photocopying various documentation
7. Answer telephone, deal with enquiries, direct as appropriate, take accurate messages and forward to relevant person/department
8. Sorting of incoming mail and distributing to addressed department/individual

Education, qualifications and experience
* NVQ 3 Administration or equivalent experience
* Computer literate and competent in use of Microsoft office applications
* Good literacy and numeracy skills

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to prioritise own workload and work unsupervised
* Organisational skills and accuracy
Knowledge and abilities
* Accurate typing and keyboard skills
* Previous experience in a healthcare office environment
