About Us: The planning team based out of the Lambert Smith Hampton Newcastle office is a key component in providing consultancy services to developers, investors, landowners, house builders and the public sector across the region. With a team in each of the major English cities and regions, the team can draw on a deep knowledge pool across the service line along with the wider urban design, development consultancy and regeneration teams in Manchester. Key Focus of Job: To handle planning instructions in the existing portfolio of both national and local clients effectively across the North East and Yorkshire, based predominately from our Newcastle office. To actively deliver a high-quality planning consultancy service for existing and prospective clients, for both the division and the wider LSH business. Main Responsibilities: Provide a clear and informed view of the planning system and ongoing awareness of policy updates and national guidance. To prepare reports and statements, as required, to support the work of the wider Planning Consultancy team, such as site appraisals, pre-application enquiries, planning statements and appeal documents. To undertake research and contribute to planning strategy advice for clients. To provide an informed view on national developments and trends in planning and contribute to wider Planning Consultancy thought pieces and research. Deliver a high level of client service at all times and take on client management responsibilities in the absence of the job lead/ key client manager. Build effective client and contact relationships. To continually strive to improve working practices and client service delivery for the whole team. To identify opportunities for increased business generation and contribution towards the winning of new business. To identify opportunities and develop collaboration between LSH service lines, expanding personal internal network and deliver cross sales, where appropriate. To represent LSH and the full range of property related services available to clients. To understand, appreciate and satisfy financial performance targets. Support junior members of the team. Main capabilities: Technical Skills Relevant Degree (RTPI chartered course) or equivalent professional experience. Chartered MRTPI / RICS (planning) preferred. Deliver planning advice with confidence. Computer Literacy, specifically in Microsoft Office and Windows, and other land/property software. GIS experience beneficial, but not a requirement. Demonstrates the ability to make effective presentations to clients. Able to develop business planning skills, including fee forecasting and fee proposals. Client Delivery Demonstrates a clear understanding of client requirements. Provides high quality and competent professional advice to our clients. Collects, reviews and acts upon client feedback. Review current and future client requirements. Business Development and Cross Selling Generates new business for the Company from own efforts and through working with others. Develops personal profile in North East and Yorkshire property market. Demonstrates an awareness of Planning and Development market trends. Collaboration with internal service lines and identifies cross selling opportunities. Exercises good commercial judgement to maximise fee earning potential, through identifying possible team or wider business opportunities with existing or new clients.
