The Role
The Assistant Project Manager assists the Superintendent and Project Management Team in managing all aspects of construction projects, including development, coordination, and implementation of a program schedule to ensure programs are completed on time, within budget, and meet or surpass expected quality.
Qualifications:
* 2+ years' experience in the construction industry with a commercial or industrial general contractor
* Familiar with detailed fixed price estimates; ability to use RS Means or other published unit price books to produce detailed line item estimates
* Effective negotiating skills
* Resource Administration including operations support staff, vendors, subcontractors, and time management
* Strong ability to:
o Adapt and be flexible to frequent changes in a fast-paced work environment
o Demonstrate integrity consistent with Centennial's core values
o Collaborate and work effectively in a team environment with diverse individuals
o Strong verbal and written communication skills, including clear, concise, and professional presentation of information
o Adapt to evolving technology and systems including Microsoft Office suite, ProCore, Adobe, and BlueBeam
* Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field desired but not required
Responsibilities
* Project Management: Assists with project budget; communicates effectively with team members, including subcontractors and clients; meets with senior project team members to gain knowledge and develop skills; develops and reviews SOW through site visits and client needs; negotiates with clients and subcontractors; coordinates project closeout, obtaining required documentation, assisting in pre-final inspections and As-Built drawings
* Estimating: Prepares estimates based on technical specifications, SOW, and drawings; assists with entering line items into Unit Price Book software using RS Means or other estimating tools
* Subcontractor Management: Solicits proposals from vendors and/or subcontractors; reviews proposals for compliance with SOW; assembles subcontractor quotes for review; gathers subcontractor safety information
* Scheduling: Assists in the development of project schedules with superintendents
* Safety: Ensures compliance with Centennial's Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) guidelines and local requirements (OSHA, USACE EM385.1.1, etc.)
* Responsible for driving between project sites that are often miles apart or from the assigned office location. Occasional travel may be required.
* Performance of job duties will be in an office environment and at construction sites under various weather conditions.
* The physical demands include:
o Walking on uneven terrain
o Regularly sitting, standing, walking, talking, and hearing
o Using hands to handle or feel
o Occasionally climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, squatting, or reaching
o Frequently lifting/moving up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds
o Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
