Assist full-time Grounds employees for two or more days per week performing various grounds-related tasks which will include operation of standard grounds equipment.
Education Required
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience Required
6 months – 1 year grounds related experience.
Skills, Characteristics Required for Position
* Good interpersonal skills; able to function successfully as a member of a team.
* Ability to work with limited supervision; self-motivated.
* Strong time management and organizational skills.
* Knowledgeable about basic grounds procedures including weed whipping, trimming, push mowing, weeding, mulching, etc.
* Demonstrated proficiency with basic grounds equipment including mowers, weed whips, trimmers, blowers.
* Valid PA driver’s license required.
* Basic computer skills including the use of campus e-mail system and software programs used to perform job.
Special Working Conditions
Must be able to endure outdoor exposure to extreme temperatures; physically demanding job functions including walking, standing, pulling, lifting, and stooping. Must be able to lift an average of 75 lbs.
Primary Duties
1. Provide assistance to Grounds crew leaders in maintaining the campus grounds. Daily duties may include mowing, weed whipping, bed edging, blowing, and general clean-up of trash and debris.
2. Assist with additional duties including, but not limited to, tree removal, driving dump trucks, backhoe operation, removing and planting shrubs, and leaf removal.
3. Consistently practice safe work habits when operating grounds equipment.
4. Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.
Secondary Duties
1. Be available to help other departments as needed.
2. Other duties as assigned.
