We are looking for a Commis Chef to join our back-of-house team working in our pasta restaurant. As a Commis Chef, you’ll be part of a large, professional team of chefs. You’ll support the senior teams in the preparation and production of our high-quality dishes. This is the perfect role for someone with limited experience and looking to learn more about Italian food preparation and working with high-quality fresh ingredients. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING Portion, cut, slice, dip, batter, maintain holding temperature, frying, and sauté. Select cuts of meat, poultry, shellfish, fish, game, or vegetables to be used for frying or sautéing. Plate menu items along with appropriate garnish. Requirements At least 1 year experience working in a kitchen in either a professional or further education environment. Ability to cook to specs and brand standards. Experience working with fresh ingredients and an understanding of basic sauce preparations is preferable. Strong knife skills. Knowledge of Italian cuisine is beneficial. Availability to work flexibly across a rota that will cover mornings, evenings, and weekends with shifts falling between 7 am and 10.30 pm. Willingness to be flexible and support multiple teams.
