Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust
Furness Community Mental Health Team - Part Time 22.50 hours per week
An opportunity has arisen to recruit a motivated and committed individual to take a Principal Clinical Psychologist role within the Furness Community Mental Health Team (CMHT).
The Furness CMHT provides assessment and intervention to individuals with complex mental health needs. The service works closely with service users, their families, and other agencies and mental health services. An interest in working with individuals with complex presentations will be essential, as are skills in working within a multidisciplinary framework.
The post is focused on providing a balance of direct and indirect work, with time dedicated to providing individual assessment, formulation, and short-term intervention to service users. There is also an expectation that the role will encompass service development, training, and consultation work with other professionals.
The post will sit as part of a team of psychologists working within The Bay Network, and the successful applicant will be welcomed as part of a service that encourages the development of specific interests. It is hoped that the applicant would be keen to undergo further clinical training to develop the therapeutic portfolio of the wider service, in line with their own preferred models.
Main duties of the job
1. Provide advice and consultation on service users and their families/carers' psychological care, working within the policies, procedures, and protocols for the service.
2. To provide specialist psychological assessment, formulation, and short therapeutic interventions based on evidence-based therapeutic models to service users and their families/carers, working as part of the CMHT.
3. To supervise and support psychological interventions to other members of the team who may have varying levels of psychological training and knowledge.
4. To work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for systematic governance of psychological practice within specific designated areas as agreed.
5. To utilise research and audit skills to support service development and implement policy changes as agreed with the relevant manager.
