An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced candidate to join the Grounds Team at Norwich City Football Club in the role of Assistant Head of Grounds. This role will be responsible to deputise in the absence of the Head of Grounds and to ensure the maintenance and preparation of all pitch surfaces at the stadium and training ground. Key tasks/responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Supervise and manage all preparation and maintenance in the absence of the Head of Grounds of all sports turf, natural and artificial pitches, used by Norwich City Football Club at both Carrow Road and the training ground. Show high competency & operation skills on a wide range of machinery, dealing with all breakdowns, setting up all cylinder/rotary mowers without supervision. Ability to mark out all pitches and encourage and pass on best techniques to staff. Qualified in the use of tractors and operations of, including tractor mounted implements. Promote continual improvement in all aspects including but not limited to staff knowledge & qualifications, equipment uses, best practices, pitch nutrition and ensure this methodology is encouraged to all staff. Ensure management of all grounds staff & equipment including but not limited to pedestrian mowers (both electric & petrol operated), strimmer’s, hedge trimming and hand tools to maintain lawns & landscapes. Report and maintain good communication with Head of Grounds and report any requirements, damages or incidents. Management, maintenance, rotation and recording of grounds pitch growing materials. Inform and keep up to date records of all machinery and where applicable take corrective action on mechanical defects or breakdown of all equipment. Show excellent knowledge and understanding of pitch renovations including growing in, turf cutting, irrigation works, fertilising, seeding, sand top dressing maintenance products and chemicals used. Maintain all size goals and nets, including maintenance of ball-stop netting. Have a data driven approach to pitches in a calculated manner. Understand location points of all Irrigation heads on all pitches. Ensure all routine pre-start checks are conducted on machinery before use and report any failures/faults Storage of all equipment is to be keep clean and returned appropriately. Ensure landscaped areas are maintained and at the highest standard at all times across all Club sites. To act in a manner that supports the Club’s Values of Growth, Integrity, Belonging, Resilience, Pride and Commitment Qualifications and experience: Minimum 3 years in the sports turf industry with line manager experience. Achieved a NVQ Level 2/3 in sports turf or equivalent. Hold PA1, PA6 and 2A spraying certification. Hold a recognized Health & safety Qualification, ideally IOSH as a minimum. Hold BE driving licences. Ability to carry out Risk Assessments. Excellent knowledge of the latest turf technology and machinery, including maintenance and use of equipment. Excellent knowledge of industry turf products. Ability to produce, execute and manage a turf feed program. Excellent knowledge, use and maintenance of SGL lighting equipment. Excellent communicator. Proven examples of showing leadership in the workplace. Proficient in use of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
