We are looking for a Construction Estimator to join McAndrew Martin, based in Portsmouth (hybrid working available). You'll play a key role in project planning, ensuring budgets are accurate and competitive while working closely with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders.
What You'll Be Doing:
1. Prepare detailed cost estimates by analysing blueprints, specifications, and project documentation.
2. Work with project managers and engineers to gather essential information for accurate estimates.
3. Conduct market research to assess material costs and labour rates.
4. Monitor project costs, providing updates and cost control recommendations.
5. Assist in the development of project budgets and financial forecasts.
6. Maintain an organised database of past estimates to improve future accuracy.
7. Build and manage a database of approved sub-contractors.
8. Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and techniques to refine estimating processes.
What We're Looking For:
1. Experience as an Estimator or in a similar role within construction or manufacturing.
2. Strong understanding of cost control principles and estimating practices.
3. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
4. Excellent mathematical and analytical skills with a high level of accuracy.
5. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for clear project discussions.
6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (essential).
7. A degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field (desirable).
