To support the Principal Pharmacy Procurement Technician with the running of the Procurement service and team. To ensure the safe, efficient and cost effective purchase of medicines to all pharmacy locations. Prioritisation and management of duties, understanding needs and expectations of workload. Main duties of the job
To order Pharmaceuticals according to Trust Standing Financial Instruction and policies whilst also liaising with the relevant teams making them aware of nil or potential supply issues. To routinely follow up on orders placed and to query overdue orders identified using the Pharmacy SharePoint reports and to code all supplier responses into the database. To manage stock shortages by Purchasing Off-Contract according to medicines procurement and supply chain (MPSC) contract terms and managing stock allocations to locations according to stock usage. To record all off-contract purchases on our SharePoint database to allow for clawback of costs from contract suppliers.

Job responsibilities
To order all unlicensed, named patient specials and non-formulary products according to Trust procedures and to inform the Pharmacy Safety Committee of changes or proposals for change of brand packaging or labelling of pharmaceutical products. To obtain drugs urgently required from other hospitals at the request of a Senior Pharmacist or Principal Technician and identify and employ suitable measures to correct any discrepancies in costings and in stock level management. Work accurately and timely to complete tasks. Professional communication with patients, pharmacy staff, wider hospital teams and external companies. Efficiently and effectively utilise available resources emails, telephones, computer hardware and software. Work independently to complete tasks but also to cooperate with others in line with own work limitations. At all times work in accordance with Trust values, and procedures. Provide appropriate support to Homecare staff when needed.

* Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council GPhC

* CIPS Diploma in Purchasing or working towards
* Accredited checking technician (ACT)
Previous experience

* Previous experience of using Epic pharmacy computer system for purchasing
* Demonstrated ability to work under pressure accurately
* Demonstrated ability to prioritise and organise routine daily tasks using own initiative
* Demonstrated ability to work to set procedures.
