Job summary We are looking for an experienced and motivated Advanced Specialist Orthoptist, Lead Clinical Tutor at Ashford and St Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to cover maternity leave for a fixed term post of 12 months. This is an excellent opportunity to gain a broad range of experience. The Trust's main two sites are Ashford Hospital and St. Peter's Hospital and we also provide services at Woking Community Hospital. Day case surgery takes place in dedicated theatres at Ashford Hospital with Paediatric and other selected surgeries at St Peter's Hospital. We are a forward looking department with a team of 19 medical staff including 1 with an interest in Paediatric Ophthalmology and Ocular Motility and 1 Paediatric Optometrist. Main duties of the job To provide high quality Orthoptic care as an autonomous advanced practitioner. To assess, diagnose and manage all categories of patients referred to the Orthoptic service provided by Ashford and St.Peter's Hospitals (ASPH) NHS Foundation Trust. To be the Orthoptic department's education service lead for the education of pre-registration Optometrists, medical students, trainee GPs, Nurses and AHPs.
