You will have a demonstrable background of leading design and analysis teams in the development of precision rotating components and systems, where you have shown an ability to create new approaches, ensuring attention to detail from all whilst managing yourself and others to tight deadlines. What you will need • Extensive experience in developing different types of transmission systems in at least two main sectors: automotive, aerospace, off-highway, commercial vehicle, defence, clean energy and/or marine • High levels of competency in design and CAE analysis of rotating systems • Adept in applying appropriate GD&T for prototype and production manufacturing processes for a wide range of components and materials • Evidence of successfully executing system integration projects • Ability to understand, collate and own the creation of compelling system propositions of engineering activities/scope outside the Mechanical Engineering domain e.g. hydraulics, development, test, controls electrified powertrain components • Solved challenging problems by developing new capabilities or techniques • An understanding of market trends and challenges, and applications of existing technology within the industry • A track record of successfully applying non-standard technical solutions and coaching others to achieve the same • Developed a strong technical reputation and relationship with customers and suppliers • Mentored others in their technical development and the quality and value of their output • Successfully managed large, multi-person and multi-discipline projects through their complete development cycle • High level of expertise or appreciation in some of the key software packages within drivetrain engineering (SMT MASTA, Romax, Creo, UGNX, Catia, Amesim, Recurdyn, Matlab, Altair and Ansys packages) • Generated and managed commercial opportunities to a successful conclusion • Awareness of the commercial approach of a consultancy business will be advantageous Key Responsibilities • The delivery of technical work packages and whole projects to as sold margins or better • Checking and approval of precision 2D manufacturing drawings to the relevant standards • Business development activities within the Mechanical Engineering function, able to propose appropriate scope of work, timing, resource and cost estimates inline with customer RFQs • Utilising / overseeing state of the art simulation techniques and design tools to design, develop and prototype transmission, driveline and actuation systems • Developing new methods to solve industry problems, generating market leading solutions. • Managing multi person/cross functional projects to achieve budgeted margin and maintain an excellent relationship with customers, whilst being accountable to the operations board for their outcome • Developing and maintaining strategic relationships on behalf of the function with key account responsibilities to maintain and build revenue streams in your sector • Taking an active role in the professional development of others within the function • An active stake holder in the Mechanical Engineering function’s quality system, generating and developing technical and procedural capabilities and ensuring their continuous development • Managing challenging proposals and quotes that define the strategy of the project while mitigating technical and commercial risks General Responsibilities • Taking responsibility for your own continual development as well as keeping up to date with advancements in technologies, manufacturing processes, standards and tools • Working collaboratively with colleagues, clients, stakeholders and contributing to the team ethic at work • Developing your personal reputation with your peers and within customers and suppliers as an ambassador of the business • Communicating actively and effectively internally and externally • Exhibiting a passion for learning and facing new challenges • Adapting to the needs of a growing and developing business • Willing to undertake short and long haul-travel on behalf of the company
