The Home
Blair House Care Home is a registered Nursing Home located on the outskirts of Newtownards, overlooked by Scrabo Tower. It is close to the town centre with different transport options available. Blair House Care Home has a total of 85 beds across 4 units including Residential Dementia, Nursing Dementia, Frail and Elderly Nursing, and a newly opened Mental Health Unit. The team in Blair House Care Home are well experienced in their fields and provide high quality care to all of our residents.
The Role
This role is for 21hrs per week. At Healthcare Ireland we believe in providing excellent care, an essential part of that is the clothing and facilities available to our residents. The Laundry Assistant contributes to the wellbeing and quality of life of our residents, collaborating with the care and domestic team to ensure clothing, bedding and other textiles are clean, tidy and available to residents as required. Laundry Assistants are vital to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
The Laundry Assistants at Healthcare Ireland work closely with the care team and residents, building relationships to ensure comfortable and clean clothing and facilities for our residents so they feel cared for.
Main Responsibilities
1. Sort, wash, dry, fold, iron and store linens, clothing and other textiles according to the Home procedures and schedules, using the Home’s equipment and supplies.
2. Ensure that the laundry area is maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene.
3. Support the care team with the tidying and storage of clothing, bedding, towels and textiles.
4. Restock and replenish laundry supplies, monitoring stock levels and reporting any shortages.
5. Ensure work processes comply with quality and statutory regulations, as well as operational standards and infection prevention and control.
6. Inspect linen and clothing for stains, tears and damage and report as required to maintain quality standards.
7. Assist with the collection, distribution, and inventory of resident clothing and personal items, ensuring accuracy in handling resident belongings.
8. Operate washing machines, dryers, and other laundry equipment safely and efficiently.
9. Undertake any other duties that may be reasonably required as designated by the Home Manager or Housekeeper.

Desired Criteria
* Previous laundry assistant or care home experience
Required Criteria
* A good standard of both verbal and written English
* Relevant experience for the role
* The Right to work in the UK
* A basic knowledge of COSHH, Health and Safety, Fire and Security Regulations, or willing to complete the necessary training
