We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team at a prestigious 92-bed, four-star luxury hotel. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all financial ledgers, ensuring that day-to-day income is balanced accurately across three sessions, and providing support for the finance team. Experience in using Sage for at least three years is essential, and the candidate should be comfortable working in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Maintain accurate financial ledgers, including general, sales, and purchase ledgers.
2. Ensure day-to-day income reconciliation across three sessions (e.g., morning, afternoon, and night), verifying accuracy and reporting any discrepancies.
3. Process daily revenue reports and ensure all transactions are posted accurately into Sage accounting software.
4. Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and accurate records.
5. Prepare and process payroll in coordination with HR, ensuring compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations.
6. Reconcile bank statements and complete month-end balancing.
7. Preparation of VAT returns and other statutory financial reporting.
8. Support the hotel’s management with ad-hoc financial reports and analysis as needed.
Desirable Skills and Qualifications:
1. Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ experience using Sage accounting software.
2. Accounting Knowledge: Basic understanding of financial principles, including profit & loss, balance sheets, and general ledger management.
3. Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with the finance team and other departments within the hotel.
4. Attention to Detail: Highly organized and methodical, with a focus on accuracy in all tasks.
5. Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, comfortable liaising with internal teams and external suppliers.
6. Payroll Experience: Familiarity with payroll processing and compliance with tax and employment regulations.
7. Hotel/Service Industry: Experience in the hospitality or service industry is an advantage but not essential.
8. Management Accounts: Ability to assist with management accounts is a plus but not a requirement.
