The Vacancy
Our Board of Governors are looking to recruit a suitably qualified, enthusiastic and hardworking caretaker to join our school team. This is an important role, and the successful applicant will be cheerful, positive, caring and self-motivated. There will be a requirement to ‘spot’ all the jobs around school, such as grounds that need to be cleared and tidied, when something needs to be repaired, renovated or decorated. The successful applicant will have good practical skills and an awareness of good safe working practices.
Other duties will include:
1. Key holding
2. Daily closing and opening of school gates as per school times
3. Regular maintenance and some cleaning duties
4. General porterage
5. Record keeping of all required maintenance checks
6. Stock control of caretaking and cleaning products
7. Escorting contractors around site, as and when required
The post is for 30 hours per week, term time only, with an allowance of 10 extra days to work alongside our cleaning team in the annual deep clean and on inset days. There also may be a requirement to work extra time in school holidays to complete tasks that require no children to be present, where overtime or time off in lieu can be paid. The successful post holder will work a split day.
This is a unique and exciting opportunity to work with amazing children, an enthusiastic senior leadership team and whole school staff who challenge themselves to be the best they can be and who believe that a job must be done to the best of the person’s ability.
Visits to the school are highly encouraged and warmly welcomed. Please contact the school on 01724 720394 or by email to admin@burtonstatherprimary.com to arrange a mutually convenient date and time.

Closing Date: 28th April 2025
