Band 5 Dietitian - Full time (37.5 hours) - fixed term 12 months - Royal Liverpool University Hospital site.
We are looking for a dietitian to join our friendly and dynamic team at University Hospitals Liverpool Group, based at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital (RLUH)
This band 5 post will be static within the gastroenterology team. You will be working to improve the health, through diet, of people with a range of gastroenterological conditions, including IBD, liver, IBS and coeliac disease within the inpatient and outpatient setting.
You will be supported by the gastroenterology dietetic team in developing your skills and knowledge within this specialist area via supervised practice and peer support.
Whilst not essential, a dietitian with prior band 5 experience would be desirable for this role.
Collect all relevant medical/social/biochemical and pharmacological information. Undertake nutritional/dietary assessments. Devise and agree with patient and/or carer a nutritional care plan
Inform health care professionals of nutritional care plan; completing documents or writing in patients’ medical notes. Monitor progress on care plans, informing health care professionals of any changes. Ensure effective communication when giving nutrition advice to individuals/groups; giving technical information in a way they can understand
Use counselling skills to assess motivation/overcome barriers to change
Liaise with caterers to ensure provision of suitable meals and snacks for patients
Attend ward rounds, case conferences and meetings to reinforce role of nutrition in patient care
Supervise student dietitians
Liaise with colleagues in primary care, and other agencies referring patients as needed, ensuring continuity of care
Plan and prioritise own caseload in collaboration with seniors

To provide factually accurate, unbiased evidence-based nutritional advice appropriate to the needs of the individual. Advice will be provided using a patient centred approach in the context of multi-disciplinary/multi-agency delivery plans.
To help provide a nutrition and dietetic service to in-patients and out-patients at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital. This will be provided to a broad range of clinical areas under the supervision of a Specialist Dietitian. Duties also include training of Student Dietitians.
