Temporary Branch Librarian - Abercynon Library

The Library Service is looking to recruit an experienced, enthusiastic and motivated individual to join their team at Abercynon library.
The post is a four-hour, Branch Librarian job-share role, working every Saturday from 9am – 1pm.
This is a temporary role for an initial 6-month period.
The successful candidate will be required to manage a branch library in partnership with their job-share colleague, to meet the learning, information, leisure, and cultural needs of the local community in line with the aims and objectives of the library service.
Responsibilities include:
1. Providing supervisory and administrative work to library assistants, directing the day-to-day operation of a branch library.
2. Developing and implementing services and special events, including outreach work, to promote the use of the branch library with the aim of increasing footfall and use of library facilities.
3. Other related work as required.
You may be expected to work at other Rhondda Cynon Taf libraries at short notice.
Protecting children and vulnerable adults is a core responsibility of all staff appointed to the Council.
In addition to this safeguarding responsibility, the successful applicant for this role will also be subject to an enhanced disclosure and barring service check.
