Amazon is looking for exceptional, motivated software engineers to work in the Kindle Reader organization. As a Software Engineer you will take an exciting and challenging role on a team that is innovating the books delivery and reading experience on mobile devices and Kindle devices for millions of Amazon customers. You will work with world-class engineers, business leaders, and other talented engineering teams while you design, architect, and code for Kindle Reader services. You will join a team that is developing a platform on which many other Amazon partner teams innovate their reader experiences.
Key job responsibilities
1. Will work in an Agile/Scrum/Kanban environment to deliver on time, high quality software.
2. Responsible for the development and maintenance of key system features.
3. Designs software systems to solve key business problems and contribute to growing the business.
4. Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including agile development, coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
5. Ability to manage medium to large-sized technical projects with minimal supervision.
6. Track record of designing, building and delivering complex software systems.
7. Work with a group of smart engineers on innovative ideas. You are encouraged to improve existing processes and propose/implement automation ideas.

3. Contribute to code reviews of software from your peers by providing meaningful feedback and suggestions.
4. Complete a detailed design of your solution and review it with your peers.
5. Deliver high quality code with minimal software defects.
6. Work with your QA lead to ensure your code is production ready.
7. Support the release and deployment process and ensure high standards for operational excellence.

The Kindle Delivery team aims to earn trust among both readers and internal Amazon teams. We earn readers’ trust by invisibly delivering their treasured pages and content to their devices, so they can reliably read and engage with reading anywhere and anytime. We earn internal teams’ trust by providing secure, highly available and performant bi-directional data delivery offerings that reduce effort to launch and maintain delivery use cases.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
1. 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
2. 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
3. Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.
2. Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
