We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Centre Manager to oversee the daily operations of our childcare facility. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a commitment to providing high-quality early childhood development and education through child-centric, interest led activities. This role requires effective communication and the ability to manage a team while ensuring a nurturing and safe environment for children. The successful candidate will ideally hold a Level 5 Diploma in Childcare and Education or equivalent qualification. An applicant with a Level 3 qualification will be expected to pursue a Level 5 qualification as part of their role. It is desirable that you hold up to date Safeguarding, Food Safety and Paediatric First Aid, as well as First Aid at Work. A DBS check will be required for the role, the cost of the DBS must be met by the applicant.
A full clean driving licence is desirable.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage the overall operations of the centre, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements including Safeguarding, health and safety, CIW Minimum Standards, Environmental Health and more.
With team, develop and implement educational programmes that cater to the developmental needs of children. Keep abreast of current early childhood thinking and trends to help implement creative and captivating activities
Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere for both staff and children, promoting teamwork and collaboration.
Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and external stakeholders regarding children's progress and centre activities. Attend meetings outside of core hours when necessary.
Manage staff recruitment, training, and performance evaluations to maintain a high standard of care. Support our team with ongoing training and professional development, ensuring that all are given opportunity to excel in their role.
Ensure the centre is well-resourced, organised, and maintained to provide an optimal learning environment. Work to budgets and source resources, supplies for food & hygiene, maintenance and operational purposes.
Manage registers and waiting lists effectively to ensure maximum occupancy within given ratios and staffing levels.
Manage and monitor customer invoices/payments and generate relevant invoicing for Local Authority funding, grants, subsidies, etc.
Drive initiatives that continue enhance the setting reputation within the community .
Skills
Strong leadership abilities with experience in managing teams in a childcare setting.
Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
Background in early childhood education or related fields, with experience working with children and a strong passion to provide the best care and education for children.
Sound knowledge of nursery operations and childcare regulations.
Ability to drive initiatives that improve educational outcomes for children.
A nurturing approach combined with strong organisational skills to manage daily activities effectively.
Manage own time in an effective and responsible manner to ensure that all duties and responsibilities are carried out
