Role: Environmental Health Officer
Location: South Ribble
Contract: Full time (36.25 hours per week) / Fixed Term Contract (12 months)
Salary: £43,693 - £44,711 plus 6% car allowance
Closing Date: 30 April 2025
We are looking for an enthusiastic generic Environmental Health Officer with primary responsibility to undertake a corporate project to identify energy inefficient properties, which are privately rented, arrange a housing inspection and undertake enforcement action as appropriate, but will also contribute to the delivery of the food safety inspection program and reactive work as and when required.
What you’ll be getting up to
1. Delivery of a corporate project (minimum of 35 homes inspected).
2. Undertake food hygiene inspections as and when required (training will be provided as appropriate).
3. Support EH team during busy periods to respond to reactive work.
Who we’re looking for
1. You'll be a qualified Environmental Health Officer.
2. Someone with knowledge of current Environmental Health issues affecting the brough including regulations and standards.
3. You'll have experience managing projects and contracts to ensure deliver value for money and achieve outcomes.
4. Operational experience in Environmental Health or Food / Occupational Health and Safety in a Local Authority environment.
Other requirements
1. This role requires you to regularly use a vehicle; therefore, you must possess a valid UK Driving Licence and have access to your own vehicle.
2. Successful applicants will be subject to a DBS check (applied and paid for by the Council).
