An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Building Craftsperson to work at The Northumbria Hospital. The successful candidate will work alongside the current team to maintain the hospital site and the new Sterile Services Facility. The post is 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, and will also take part in the Emergency Maintenance assistant on-call rota.

Main duties of the job
The successful post holder will be involved in the day-to-day operations and maintenance of all building fabric within the Trust and non-Trust properties, including some installation work. They will be required to participate in the Estates on-call rota and undertake essential out-of-hours on-call duties, as directed.
The successful applicant will already have significant experience in Building Services, be versatile, able to handle conflicting priorities, and have the ability to work under pressure. They will be computer literate, have good knowledge and ability, and possess good verbal and written communication skills. They will also have good interpersonal skills, allowing them to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical personnel, within and beyond the organisation.

Job responsibilities
1. Provide a skilled Joinery provision for the Estates Department to all client departments and Business Units.
2. Organise and prioritise own workload, where required, and work unsupervised.
3. Demonstrate total commitment, versatility, and flexibility whilst undertaking all tasks and delegated work as instructed by Estates Officers Supervisors.
4. Role model compassionate and inclusive leadership to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Must hold a relevant City & Guilds, BTEC or NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Joinery/building Craftsperson.
* Recognised CITB Craft Apprenticeship or equivalent with previous experience of working within an Estates Healthcare environment having demonstrated total commitment to versatility and flexibility.
* BTEC HNC.
