The Communication and Interaction caseworker works across the area, providing advice and guidance to schools, settings and parents and direct work with children and young people (CYP). Reporting to and liaising with the C&I Specialist Teacher, you will often work independently, determining underlying C&I needs, developing plans, providing individually tailored support including one to one and small group interventions, and modelling approaches. Your work will be peripatetic, often travelling to several school settings each day, and attending virtual meetings from home or at a Stockton base. Understanding the impact of C&I needs on children and young people, you will make a positive difference, and use a wide range of skills to support schools to meet the individual needs of CYP and develop whole school approaches to extend and embed impact. You will manage a caseload as specified by your line manager and in accordance with service policies. Working with the specialist teachers and other caseworkers, you will give support and challenge to schools as well as assist in the delivery of staff CPD. There is also opportunity to work flexibly across Children's Services and with other agencies, partners and stakeholders to meet the needs of children, young people and families. You may be requested to lead on specific projects, take on responsibility for other areas of work and deputise for your line manager when required. We are looking for someone who has children and young people's best interests at heart, who can work flexibly and positively with a range of different stakeholders to influence and encourage the adults around a child and improve outcomes. The role is challenging and rewarding. You will be part of a friendly team who focus on the delivery of high-quality education to CYP with Special Education Needs driven by child-centred principles. Team members have the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills, attend training and collaborate on projects with colleagues.
