We are seeking an Application Engineer for our DevonWay product to partner with customers to design, configure, and document all or parts of a mobile and/or desktop solution and then iteratively build, test, deliver, and support solutions using the DevonWay technology stack and industry-standard tools such as SSRS and SQL. The main deliverable from an Application Engineer is a high-quality, reliable, and easy-to-use application that meets the customer's needs. By using the DevonWay platform, applications can be built without having knowledge of specific programming languages like Java. Application configuration, however, does require advanced technical skills. All Application Engineers also assist in providing technical support to existing customers.
Responsibilities
1. Meet with customers and translate their needs into detailed requirements based on best practices.
2. Follow DevonWay’s hybrid (waterfall/agile) methodology to design and configure application modules based on requirements.
3. Learn and follow the DevonWay SQA process, which requires engineers to write and execute functional tests to ensure acceptable functionality and prevent regression.
4. Follow Company standards for security and best practices.
5. Plan for and complete data conversions, interfaces to third-party systems, and reference data loads.
6. Design, build, test, and deploy SSRS and/or Business Intelligence reports.
7. Provide work estimates and plans to the project manager.
8. Conduct demonstrations, either over webinar or in-person, for deployed applications.
9. Provide support, including triage, issue investigation and resolution, and documentation.
10. Resolve issues in a timely manner and escalate as required.
11. Collaborate with team members within and outside of department for both resolving support tickets and project implementations.
12. Seek opportunities to learn, automate, document, share, educate, and improve processes where appropriate.
Skills and Experience
1. 1-3 years of experience supporting and implementing enterprise software applications a plus but not required.
2. BS in computer science, engineering, MIS or another technical field.
3. Demonstrated skills and capabilities in analytical and critical thinking, and complex problem solving.
4. Comfortable with basic relational database concepts.
5. Experience with REST and scripting languages (e.g., Python) a plus.
6. Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) a plus.
7. Customer-focused and comfortable communicating with customers.
8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
9. Able to travel approximately 10-20%, including internationally.
