At Thomson Gray we provide construction consultancy to a variety of clients across the UK. We're looking for an enthusiastic graduate / trainee to join our team, to learn from our experienced Health & Safety practitioners. \n\nHow it works\nYou would work out of our Edinburgh office and gain hands on experience providing H&S advice on a variety of exciting construction projects. Full training will be provided, and you will learn from our experienced H&S team who have been working in the industry for decades. You will be given time throughout the week to study an online degree program. At the end of the Graduate programme you will have a degree in Health & Safety / Risk Management and also have been given excellent mentorship and training with plenty of real-life experience on construction projects across Scotland.\n\nYour on job training will be combined with academic study on a part time or distance learning basis at University.\n\nThe Apprentice / Trainee Construction H&S Consultant will be :\n\n\uF0A7\tVisiting construction sites and assisting in H&S audits\n\uF0A7\tAssisting clients to ensure they comply with their H&S duties \n\uF0A7\tPreparing and checking health and safety documents\n\uF0A7\tAttending online and in person meetings for various construction projects\n\uF0A7\tCommunicating effectively with clients, contractors, designers and colleagues \n\uF0A7\tAssisting qualified staff in the role of Principal Designer where required in accordance with the CDM2015 Regulations\n\uF0A7\tSupporting colleagues across other disciplines within Thomson Gray\n\uF0A7\tClear career progression opportunities\n\n\n\n You should be hard working, enthusiastic and eager to learn. Previous experience of construction is not necessary however you will be expected to :\n- be reliable and must be a good communicator.\n- Have a keen interest in health and safety\n- Be computer literate â Office 365, Word, Excel (desirable) \n- Have a Driverâs License (own transport desirable) \n- Ability to write and edit reports in a clear & concise manner\n A minimum of four Highers; with at least two Highers at grade B or higher. Various grade combinations from Highers and Advanced Highers will be considered. Nat 5 English and Mathematics are essential; Higher English and Mathematics are preferred. \n\nAlternatively you may have a good undergraduate degree (minimum 2:2 honours or equivalent) in engineering or a relevant science discipline\n\n
