THE ROLE
The successful candidate will teach Science across a range of abilities and age groups and take on the role of form tutor. The position requires a commitment to upholding the values and ethos of the school, fostering an environment where all students can achieve their highest potential. The role also involves acting as a role model for both staff and students and engaging in relevant training and development.
REPORTING LINES
This role reports to the Director of Learning for Science.
LEADING TEACHING AND LEARNING
* Contribute to high-quality teaching and learning within the department, ensuring students make strong academic progress.
* Support students' moral, spiritual, physical, and social development.
* Implement robust tracking and monitoring systems to accurately assess students' progress.
* Embed assessment for learning in lessons to help students understand how to achieve their best possible outcomes.
STUDENT WELFARE
* Ensure students are informed about their attainment and progress, helping them understand their targets and areas for improvement.
* Maintain high expectations for behaviour both within lessons and across the school, applying interventions and consequences consistently.
* Promote a school culture of respect, recognition, and mutual support.
* Maintain a safe and supportive environment where students feel comfortable reporting concerns.
PARTNERSHIPS AND SCHOOL PROMOTION
* Support collaboration with other schools and educational institutions to enhance student opportunities.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
* Good honours degree in a relevant subject
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
EXPERIENCE
* Experience using target setting, data analysis, and curriculum innovation to drive improvement.
* Evidence of promoting innovation in teaching and learning.
* Experience teaching Science at KS3 and KS4.
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
* Strong understanding of the Science curriculum and assessment frameworks.
* Ability to develop a high-expectation, inclusive learning environment.
* Ability to analyze student performance and implement strategies for improvement.
