We are seeking a motivated individual who is willing to take on new challenges and learn within the rapidly evolving EV arena. We are looking for an EV Test Engineer, who will be supporting the EV engineering team with the continued development of EV Propulsion test capabilities in Milton Keynes.
Required skills and experience:
* Engineering Degree, preferably in an electrical or automotive discipline, but extensive experience will also be considered
* EV powertrain, battery, Hybrid systems knowledge
* Experience of EV powertrain or Hybrid system test operations
* Knowledge of AC and DC electrical systems
* Excellent communication skills
* Ability to interpret technical drawings, including P&ID’s, electrical schematics, and mechanical designs
* Coding experience to develop test method scripting or data acquisition, signal conditioning, and post processing
* Adaptability and applied learning
* Ability to work autonomously
* Maintaining clear and traceable documentation
* Strong H&S awareness and understanding
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Intertek’s TT laboratory network employs over 1000 staff in 28 labs in USA, Europe and East Asia, with a diverse portfolio of Assurance, Testing, Inspection and Certification (ATIC) services for Automotive, Aerospace, Marine & Rail customers.
TT-UK has two laboratories, both based in Milton Keynes. Tanners Drive specialises in combustion engine, transmission and complete powertrain testing services. The second laboratory, in Davy Avenue, specialises in electric vehicle propulsion systems testing services.
Key activities:
* Interpret customer project requirements and carry out test and development activities, including reporting, to meet the objectives of the project
* Test method writing, modification and software scripting for performance and durability tests on EV propulsion systems across the assigned rigs
* Complete test instructions, and equipment and customer utilisation KPI’s as required
* Installing, calibrating and validating data measurement and acquisition systems
* Debugging and real-time commissioning of complex electronic systems
* Specification, installation, reconfiguration and safety assessment of hazardous DC and AC electrical systems and power electronics
* Support the mechanical and electrical installation of automotive AC multi-phase motors and power inverters
* Engineer ancillary systems to support the requirements of the testing
* Support the development and implementation of EV powertrain test safety strategy
* Ensure that the data generated is valid and in line with customer requirements
* Liaise with colleagues, customers and suppliers in a professional manner at all times
* Ensure all instrumentation used is calibrated in line with company procedures
* Help to implement and follow safe systems of work
