We are seeking dedicated and skilled Equipment Operators to join our Public Works team. As an Equipment Operator, you will play a crucial role in the construction, maintenance, and repair of county roads and related systems. You’ll be responsible for operating and maintaining a variety of light to heavy-duty equipment to ensure the safety and functionality of our county’s road infrastructure. SALARY RANGE: $25.89 - $36.26/hr.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
* Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is required.
* Previous experience operating heavy equipment in a construction or maintenance setting is preferred.
* Proficiency in operating and maintaining heavy equipment is a plus.
* Knowledge of safety protocols and best practices for equipment operation.
* Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Operates specialized light to heavy-duty equipment such as hand tools, weed sprayers, compactors, backhoe, front-end loader, water truck, tack wagon, power broom/street sweeper, chipper, roller, tractor, trucks, dump trucks, vac truck, snow plow, and sanders and other similar equipment in the maintenance, construction, and repair of the county road system; clears culverts of debris; repairs potholes, highway shoulders, and performs snow removal operations.
* Performs all duties as assigned related to street, road, and right-of-way maintenance.
* Checks and services assigned equipment and other equipment as directed; performs routine maintenance and emergency repairs; reports mechanical problems to the shop for repair; operates a variety of hand and power tools in performing general maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
* Performs duties with due regard for personal safety, that of other employees, and the public; performs as a flagger when assigned to assure safety while working on highways.
* Performs related duties as assigned.
