Position Summary
Reporting to the manager of Oral Health, the successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of various dental services in accordance with the Ontario Public Health Standards 2018. Hours of work are Monday to Friday 12:00pm - 8:00pm unless otherwise directed.
Position Responsibilities
* Provide oral hygiene instruction
* Assist the dental hygienist or dentist, as required
* Perform clinical level II duties, as required
* Record, sort, file search, photocopy, maintain, distribute and file forms relative to the Oral Health Program
* Maintain equipment - sterilization of instruments and basic maintenance of all dental equipment
* Scheduling and confirming appointments
* Monitoring and maintaining dental supplies
* Provide other related duties, as required to facilitate the efficient operation of the dental program
* Responsibilities require work primarily in the Windsor/Leamington area, but may require travel throughout the county
* Must work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and all policies and procedures of the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit
Position Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience
* Certified Level II Dental Assistant; NDAEB Certified
* Certificate in Basic Life Support – HCP
* Current expertise as a practising Level II CDA
Other Requirements:
* Excellent interpersonal, writing, organizational and communication skills
* Ability to speak a second language would be beneficial
* Ability to work with minimal supervision
* Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email and Internet
* A valid Ontario Driver’s Licence, access to a reliable motor vehicle during working hours, as well as 1 million dollars in liability insurance
* A satisfactory vulnerable sector police clearance
* Ability to meet physical demands of position
* Immunizations and TB screening as per WECHU policies
* Knowledge of Ministry database software is an asset
Additional Information
This position includes the option of hybrid work, whereby employees may be able to work remotely or from the office, based on departmental needs, job duties and personal work preferences. The successful candidate must reside within the province of Ontario and must be available to attend the office upon request.

1st Year: $29.57
2nd Year: $30.49
3rd Year: $31.41
4th Year: $32.39
5th Year: $33.41
6th Year: $34.44
