Metalis is partnering with a well-established manufacturing company seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Quality Engineer to join their expanding team. This opportunity has arisen due to significant business growth and a robust order book.
Role Overview:
To be the focal point for quality of all products and systems. Provide a hands-on approach to production and product issues, identifying key areas for improvement. Lead and successfully conclude Continuous Improvement projects delivering sustainable developments to the business. To uphold a quality culture and ensure the best in class performance to our Internal and External customer base.
Responsibilities:
1. Management and development of BS EN ISO 9001:2015 business system.
2. Ensuring that all systems are maintained so that the requirements of BS EN ISO 9001 are met and, as defined, kept under review, by means of formal and informal audits.
3. Host and co-ordinate all external auditing bodies and ensure we maintain current certifications.
4. Carry out internal audits, communicate results, and ensure correct closure of actions within set timescales.
5. Target inefficiencies quickly using problem-solving techniques such as A3 and Root Cause Analysis.
6. Support and Lead Continuous Improvement projects, driving out waste, reducing downtime, and improving OTIFEF delivery to customers.
7. Management of non-conformances and interaction with relevant department or suppliers on corrective actions and review actions.
8. Ownership and improvement of Quality KPI's, and analysis of performance data to identify focus areas for the business.
9. Support the business improvement strategies across the site, providing challenge, facilitation, and coaching where required.
10. Work closely with the Product Development team to ensure a Quality by Design concept.
11. Ensuring all products are produced within tolerances specified.
12. Ensure all manufacturing processes are supported by the necessary training, documentation, and Quality Controls.
Knowledge/Previous Experience:
1. Minimum 5 years experience in a quality engineering role.
2. Experience of working within ISO9001 and ISO14001.
3. Energy and enthusiasm.
4. Excellent organisational and planning skills.
5. The ability to communicate clearly and concisely at all levels.
6. Analytical thinker with attention to detail.
7. Strong project management skills, experience of Kaizen and 5's Ownership.
8. Proven experience of Lean skills and techniques, influencing and engaging others within this function.
9. Demonstrated experience of quality assurance.
10. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
11. High personal standards.
12. Experience in SME environment.
Desirable:
1. Knowledge and experience within Building materials sector.
2. Practical experience in a manufacturing environment.
3. Minimum of Green belt in six sigma or relevant Lean alternative qualification.
Pay/ Hours/ Benefits:
1. 39 hours per week.
2. 7:00-16:00 Monday - Thursday, 7:00-15:00 on Fridays.
