Postdoctoral Scientist
Salary £39,375 per annum
MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge, UK
An opportunity is available for a Postdoctoral Scientist to work with Dr Andrew Carter on cargo transport in neurons. The project aims to identify the links between microtubule motors and axonal cargos using genome engineering, induced stem cell derived neurons (iNeurons) and advanced light microscopy. The scope of the project can also include application and development of cutting edge in situ cross-linking mass spectrometry approaches courtesy of an established collaboration with the Rappsilber lab in Berlin.
I am looking for an enthusiastic individual who is likely to thrive in a laboratory with a friendly and supportive atmosphere. You should have a PhD in a relevant subject, or due to complete within 6 months, and a desire to understand how microtubule motors dynein and kinesin can interact with many different cargos from viruses to membrane organelles.
The position would suit someone with a strong background in cell biology, who is interested in joining part of a group effort that includes cellular, in vitro reconstitution and structural approaches. Experience in neuronal cell biology is desirable but not essential.
This is a three-year training and development position suitable for you if you have recently completed your doctoral studies, or you are looking to move into a new research discipline and/or need to further develop your research skills. Working with our world class scientists you will be working in an Institute renowned for its excellent scientific facilities and high-quality research.
