Design Engineer
Location: Cheltenham

Job Summary
In this incredible role, you will be actively developing new products within our portfolio and technologies for Kohler Co. For this, you will need to be a curious and tenacious individual with a drive to experiment and develop next-generation showering experiences.
1. Create and execute design solutions, using engineering fundamentals and logic backed up by practical technical problem solving, to support the development from an idea to a product in the market.
2. Bring ideas, innovations, future trends and new opportunities through to next generation products.
3. Work within an NPD Project team, carry out a broad scope of complex engineering tasks including integrating existing technologies into projects and technical assignments.
4. Oversee complex engineering analysis using theoretical and practical tools (e.g. CFD, FEA).
5. Own the delivery of assigned work packages to a high quality, on time, and with consideration given to cost and sustainability goals.
6. Be an active and engaged member of the Digital team, bringing your insights to team meetings and innovation sessions.
7. Lead the testing of new concepts/products using both novel and iterative development approaches.
8. Benchmark and test competitors’ products, bringing insights.
9. Proactively collaborate with a multifunctional team to deliver projects to time, cost, and quality targets.
10. Compile and enter supporting data such as product BOMs, design record files, engineering changes.
11. Work within an established new product development process.
12. Measure and balance your actions and decisions against time, cost, quality, and sustainability goals.
13. Champion and develop best practice.
14. Support continuous improvement within the department and support wider business activities.
15. The role may occasionally require visits to customers and suppliers, both domestic and international.
Skills/Requirements
1. A qualified Mechanical Engineer, with at least 2 years of relevant industry experience.
2. A strong team player with a positive attitude who is excited to work collaboratively.
3. Highly motivated and self-driven with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
4. Initiative-taking, proactive and results driven.
5. Passionate about new technology, naturally inquisitive, and driven to identify and solve engineering problems.
6. Appetite for learning about new technologies and integrating them into product ideas and designs.
7. Used to working with a new product development process.
8. Working knowledge of FMEA’s, DFA, CFD, FEA and Moldflow.
9. Designing for various manufacturing processes: injection moulding, machining etc.
10. 3D / 2D CAD, preferably Creo Parametric.
Desirable Requirements:
1. An appreciation of water/fluid principles and/or fluid control systems.
2. A working appreciation of electronic and electrical systems.
