Job Advert Role Description
Contributing to all aspects of the Psychology department’s work with patients, particularly in terms of assessment, treatment and risk management on allow and medium secure wards. However, the post holder will also be expected to facilitate groups and individual work including completing assessments and contributing to the positive behaviour support framework on all sites as required.
This role would be appropriate for anyone wanting to gain experience before further training and would be particularly suitable for someone wanting a Career in Clinical or Forensic Psychology.
Main Duties will include:
1. Completing a range of assessments with patients as part of developing individual treatment formulations and plans.
2. Facilitating regular Mindfulness groups on different units
3. Facilitating motivational and/ or Problem Solving groups as preparation for further in depth work including conducting pre and post assessments and writing reports.
4. Contributing to the delivery of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Skills Groups
5. Completion of collaborative risk assessments with patients using tools such as HCR20’s
6. Contributing to ensuring Priory Healthcare meets best practice on positive behaviour support including carrying out functional analyses and developing/maintaining/monitoring any behavioural programmes.
7. Writing a range of reports on assessment and treatment completed by patients.
8. Contributing to research and audit

To be successful as an Assistant Psychologist, you’ll need
10. Degree in Psychology (2:1 minimum).
11. Graduate basis for registration with B.P.S (eligible).
12. To be highly motivated and interested in working in a forensic setting with patients who have Learning disabilities and complex needs.
13. Some experience in a clinical or institutional setting is essential.
14. Some experience in learning disability and/or forensic services is desirable
15. Knowledge of treatment approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy; Cognitive Analytic Therapy and /or Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and; Positive Behaviour support; would be an advantage but not essential.
16. Effective time management and organisational abilities
17. The role will be split between our Lombard site and Richmond Site, therefore a full UK Drivers License and access to own vehicle is essential.
